2006- Conception of the Idea to Establish a School of Law
The idea of setting up a law school in Kenyatta University was conceived as early as the year 2006 by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, which conducted the necessary ground work leading to the establishment of the School of Law. During the setting up Kenyatta University School of Law (KUSOL), consideration was given to the ever increasing demand for legal professionals not only in Kenya but globally. Thanks to all the hard work, put in at the beginning by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Law is now firmly established, accredited and ISO 9001:2015 Certified.

12th May 2008- Kenyatta University School of Law Admits the Pioneer Students
Kenyatta University School of Law received the first batch of first of 124 students on 12 May 2008.

27th November 2009-Kenyatta University School of Law Officially Opened
The School was officially launched a year later on Friday, 27 November 2009, at a colourful ceremony at the School’s compound hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olive Mugenda as the chief host and graced by then Attorney General, Honorable Amos Wako, as the chief guest. Since the first admission of students, KUSOL has grown from strength to strength as guided by the University’s framework for success in the provision of quality higher education. The pioneer students graduated in December 2012.

29th November 2010 – Award of Provisional Accreditation
The School was initially inspected for provisional accreditation on 24 October 2008. It was thereafter granted provisional accreditation on 29th November 2010.

May 2011 - ISO Certification
The School’s academic programme was successfully audited for ISO 9001:2008 standard in May 2011. Since then, Kenyatta University Directorate of Quality Management System (QMS) ensures the University complies with both the University Quality Management Systems and ISO standards. The Quality Management Systems Directorate conducts Internal Audits bi-annually to ensure the School’s compliance with Quality Management Systems standards. The School is also audited annually by external auditors to ensure there is compliance with ISO standards

29th February 2012 - Full Accreditation
The School was inspected for full accreditation status on 29th February 2012. It was thereafter issued with a certificate of full accreditation dated 29th February 2012 making it the first school of law in Kenya to attain such status.

December 2016-Re-Accreditation
Upon the Completion of the four year cycle, Kenyatta University School of Law was re-accredited in December 2016. This was after a rigorous re-evaluation process which ensured the School met all the requirement to continue offering the law programme.
