Prof. Kariuki is an Associate Professor, and a researcher at Egerton University, department of Psychology, Counseling and Education Foundations. Prof. Kariuki has interacted with international and local scholars in conferences, seminars and workshops whose themes were based on a wide global issues. She has had a hand in administration duties both as the chairman of the department and a Dean on acting capacities. She has been actively involved in curriculum development both for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. She has supervised both Masters and Doctoral students in their projects and theses. Her research interests touch on alcohol and drug abuse, early childhood development and ICT as a tool to enhance learning and governance. Prof. Kariuki has realized the importance of peace in the context of national development and has invested her time heavily towards having a peaceful nation. She has for the last two years developed an interest in mental health and has conducted research and actively participated in conferences and workshops on mental health in realizing that mental health is a significant attribute and driver to achieving vision 2030. She is widely published in referred journals. She is currently an external examiner for postgraduate students at Kenyatta University, Department of Psychology.
