Quds Day (Jerusalem Day - Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem), officially called International Quds Day is an annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadhan that was initiated by the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (r.a) in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and Israel occupation of Palestine.
Quds Day is also held in several other countries, mainly in the Arab and Muslim world, with protests against Zionist occupation of East Jerusalem. Rallies are held in various cities by both Muslim and non-Muslim communities around the world. Critics of Quds Day argue that it is inherently anti-Semitic.

To commemorate this day, the Cultural Council, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in conjunction with the Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies, Kenyatta University is sponsoring a ½ day Conference on theme: “Palestinian Question and its relevance to the Struggle for Human Rights in the Contemporary World” on 31st May 2019 at the Kenyatta University Conference Centre (KUCC) from 1.30 – 6.30 pm.
