A CHARITY EVENT VISIT TO THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR-NYUMBA YA WAZEE - IN KASARANI ON 10TH MARCH, 2019 BY STUDENTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY & RELIGIOUS STUDIES

On 10th March, 2019, 80 students from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies led by their representatives: Charles Mutisya and David Ryoba visited Nyumba ya Wazee at Kasarani for a Charity Event. The students who were taking the unit ARE 401 were accompanied by their Lecturer Dr. Ruth Muthei. The students donated foodstuffs - 5 crates of eggs, tomatoes, mangoes, oranges, bananas among others - and toiletries. The students organized this charity event by contributing money which was used to buy the items for donations and paying for transport to and from Kasarani. Besides the donations, the students carried out some activities at Nyumba ya Wazee for the benefit of the elderly people hosted at the center. These included but were not limited to the following: cleaning of utensils, mopping the kitchen and the dining; cleaning the compound, entertainment, interaction with the aged and assisting in preparing food. It was such a fulfilling and fruitful day and event for the students and their lecturer and the management of the Nyumba ya Wazee were very grateful to the students and their lecturer.
