The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies will host Prof. Jonathan Bonk who will deliver a Lecture on Dictionary of African Christian Biography on 30th October 2019 at BSSC, Conference Room No. 12 from 2.00 – 4.30pm. Prof. Jonathan Bonk is a leading Missiologist at Boston University and Director of Overseas Ministries Study Centre (OMSC) at New Haven. He is the Founder and Director: DACB- https://dacb.org/Editor, DACB Journal https://dacb.org/journal/, and author: Missions and Money- Affluence as a Western Missionary Problem (1991 & 2006). The Lecture by Prof. Bonk will give both staff and postgraduate students an opportunity to interact and share ideas with the scholar who has written and contributed a lot in Missiology and especially on his Dictionary of African Christian Biography. This is therefore to invite and welcome all to the Lecture on Dictionary of African Christian Biography.

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies held a book donation session on Friday 13th September at the Department where more than 200 books were donated to Kenyatta University Library. The donation was from Theological Book Network, an institution based in Grand Rapids Michigan USA. The Kenyatta University Library was represented by Miss Jacqueline Maina who received the books on behalf of the Chief Librarian. Several members of the Department led by the Chairman of the Department, Dr. Newton Kahumbi, graced the occasion.
On behalf of the Department, the Chairman, thanked Prof. Philomena Mwaura an Associate Professor in the Department, through whose efforts and networking, the Department received the books. He also expressed gratitude to the Theological Book Network for having chosen Kenyatta University as one of the recipients in its book distribution network. The books will add to the existing repertoire in Kenyatta University Library for references on Theology, Religion and other related disciplines.

The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies held a meeting of the Linkages & Collaboration and Curriculum Committees on 23rd July 2019 in the Chairman’s office. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss areas of Collaboration between the Department and Kenyatta University Referral Hospital; Developing and mounting of Short Courses for the purpose of income-generating; Recommendations on Incentive for Innovative Ideas for Income- Generation and to mounting of Course work units for PhD Program. The Conference Theme on : The Palestinian Question & Its Relevance to the Struggle for Human Rights" Held at Kenyatta University Conference Centre, on 31st May 2019. The Conference which was meant to mark "QUDS (Jerusalem) DAY, was hosted by the Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies and Sponsored by the Cultural Council, Embassy of the Republic of Iran.
