Goodbye and welcome

The Department wishes to announce that it has lost the services of several members of teaching staff and gained the services of others
Those who have left are:
Prof Martin Chege Njoroge:
Prof Njoroge has moved to Pan African Christian University as an Associate Professor and as the DVC (Academics). He joined the teaching staff in this department in 1998 and has since served with exemplary dedication in his teaching, supervision and departmental committee duties. He has mentored many students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Prof is a great team player, a quality that saw him present and publish several papers with colleagues and students. The Department will always remember the pivotal role that Prof Njoroge played in organizing the international conference on multilingualism in 2010. Although his services and affable personality will be greatly missed, we are extremely happy for him and congratulate him on his achievements. Indeed we wish him all the best

Dr Mathew Kinyua Karia
Dr Kinyua joined the teaching staff in 2009 and was based in Kitui Campus. He was instrumental in laying the foundation of our department in that campus. For the last couple of years, he has been undertaking his PhD in the University of Cologne in Germany where he has trained as a speech pathologist. He has published his research work in a book titled Analysis of Dysarthric Speech After a Traumatic Brain Injury. Owing to his area of specialization, he has found it necessary to transfer his services from our department to that of Special needs. However, he may from time to time, teach for us on part timer basis because his doctoral work is phonological in nature. The Department wishes to congratulate him on attaining a PhD and to thank him sincerely for the commitment with which he served us.

Those who have recently joined us are:
• Dr Gatitu Kiguru Kericho Campus
• Dr Henry Nandelenga Nakuru Campus
• Mrs Norah Atambo Embu Campus
• Ms Loise Mwai Nakuru Campus
• Mr Maina Wakarindi Mombasa Campus
• Mr Joshua Itumo Kitui Campus

The Department also wishes to heartily congratulate Dr Ruth Ndun’gu on her appointment as the Registrar, Corporate Affairs. Although her busy schedule will not allow her to carry out teaching duties, she will still continue supervising postgraduate students. She has our best wishes as she discharges her new mandate.
